For the Love of Kamon

I loved making 'For The Love of Kamon'. The twelve main blocks are based on Japanese family crests called 'Kamon'. The characters in the four corners are Chinese for Love, hence the name, 'For The Love Of Kamon'.

I cheated a little with border because the flowers are Jacobean, but done in very oriental material. I couched little gold cranes to fly amongst them. There are also gold cranes on the top and bottom borders. The Kamon blocks were taken from Kumiko Sudo's book 'Circles of the East', the Jacobean flowers are adapted from 'The Best of Jacobean Applique' by Patricia B. Campbell and Mimi Ayars. The cranes are sashiko designs from Kitty Pippen's books.
