Susan Briscoe asked me to design this small piece of work for her book, 'Japanese Quilt Blocks to Mix and Match'. It appears on page 18 of her book.
Autumn colours inspired this Kamon (Family crest) banner. Machine appliqued with metallic threads on oriental patchwork prints, the golden edges are reminiscent of kinkoma embroidery. Three of the blocks in this banner are illustrated as Sashiko in Susan's book but I did them as applique to show that they would work either way.
