This was the first quilt that I designed completely from scratch. It was inspired by a book of Kitty Pippen's. I purchased the fabric with the fishes on and took it from there.
I hand embroidered the golden carp, the boat, the crab, the wading bird, the shells, the waves and the smaller fishes in the border. All of them are Japanese designs, as are the appliqued symbols of waves in the border.
This quilt was exhibited at Quiltfest 2006 in the International Pavilion Llangollen and was awarded a Judges Merit at the Great Northern Show 2006.
