Welcome to the final issue of Our World for this year, the 10th anniversary year of the Information Point. I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has made it a great year, either by taking part in a birthday project or sharing their story - a big highlight for me was the 'Now We Are Ten' stories featured earlier this year; it was lovely to read about the children who were born at the same time as the Information Point began and how well they are getting on. The aim of the website has always been to provide information and support and to raise awareness of centronuclear and myotubular myopathy and I hope this has been achieved more than ever this year. Money raised through the Mosaic Fundraising appeal has now been donated to the Laporte Lab for research into centronuclear and myotubular myopathy and photos for The Big Sunflower Project continued to arrive into October. With winter well and truly here in the UK, this issue will be the final project update from this part of the world. However, I hope, that families south of the equator, will now consider buying a packet of sunflower seeds and will have a go at growing a sunflower and I will continue to post the photos on the Facebook and Flickr pages if they arrive. There has been a lot of interest from people interested in taking part again next year too and although it was never the intention to run the project for more than one year, if further seeds can be obtained, it is hoped to run the project again in 2012. This time around, stories have come from the UK, America and Canada; there is news from the Myotubular Trust, including research news about gene therapy that will benefit those diagnosed with autosomal dominant CNM; there is fundraising news and a number of stories about scoliosis - these have been included to tie in with the scoliosis webinar which took place recently. There is also a lovely story from Alison Frase about Joshua Frase; and Mike Abram (also known as my dad), has written about disabled access at National Trust properties. As always, thank you to everyone who has contributed - the Information Point and Our World would not exist without you. By sharing your stories, you are helping raise awareness and helping others diagnosed with CNM / MTM. If you have a story to share next year, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Wishing everyone a safe, happy and peaceful holiday season.
