I have been interested in my family history for a long time now - because of other commitments I do not get to do much in the way of research right now. However, some of my family tree can be found on the Tribal pages website and I am always interested to hear from people researching the same names as me.

For as long as I can remember I have been told I am related to the famous Shortland naval family of Australia. I have never been able to make the connection and I suspect it is quite an indirect link but it was something my great aunt always encouraged me to pursue and it is something that I would love to achieve both for her and my father who is also very interested.
My Abram ancestors came from Northamptonshire and Suffolk - although the name is now spelt 'Abram' this seems to have changed over time, so I am also researching Abrams, Abraham and Abrahams. Many of my Abram ancestors went to Australia in the early 1900's and one to America, I believe that there may be an Irish connection too. I would also like to learn more about the child that was born to my great grandparents in South Africa in 1913, whilst my great grandfather Joseph Charles Abram was stationed there on army service and whether the child's grave still exists.
